2 girls left home alone in filthy house, report says

U.S. Marshals attempting to find a wanted woman responded to her home to find two children left home alone in conditions police described as “unkempt,” according to a report.

Police responded to an apartment in the first block of Bragg Place around 7:50 a.m. Monday after attempting to locate Jahkia Gomez, 22, of Dayton.

When officers arrived they discovered two children, ages 2 and 5, were home alone, according to a Dayton police report.

While searching the home, police found overflowing trash, roaches and old food spread throughout the residence, the report said.

Police were unable to locate Gomez and she was issued a summons for child endangering, the report read.

The children were released to their grandmother and children’s services was contacted.
