Greene County seeking bids to build expo center ahead of Hamvention

Greene County officials are opening bids to contractors to build a new exhibition center at the county fairgrounds.

The construction of the building, at an estimated cost of $1.5 million, is expected to be finished and open in time to accommodate Hamvention, which is set to happen May 18-20.

Hamvention, hosted by the Dayton Amateur Radio Association since 1952, is billed as the world’s largest amateur radio gathering.

The county has issued a public notice for all potential contractors to attend a pre-bid meeting at 9 a.m. Friday (Jan. 5) at the county services department, 641 Dayton Xenia Road, Xenia.

The sealed bids will be accepted until Jan. 25, and county officials will open and read the sealed bids in a public session that day.
