» Background: Huber mayor uncommitted to 2nd term
Three candidates have filed petitions to run for mayor — Jeff Gore, Albert Griggs Jr. and David Wilson. A fourth, Jimmy Byrge, has picked up a petition but had not filed as of Monday.
Wednesday is the filing deadline for the new term beginning Jan. 1, 2018.
McMasters unseated the previous incumbent mayor and is in his first term.
He has previously indicated he will remain engaged in the city.
“I’ll complete my term, and we’ll see where it goes from there,” McMasters said.
The mayor has drawn the ire of some of his colleagues on city council, as evidenced by high-profile incidents since taking over on Jan. 1, 2014.

Among the issues, McMasters was censured by City Council; city staff filed a complaint against him; he attached, without authorization, a memo to city manager Rob Schommer's contract stating his disapproval; refused to sign legislation that was passed by council; and a complaint against him was filed with the NAACP.
