Sharp's lawyer, Jay Lopez of Troy, filed a request asking the court to also determine if Sharp is competent to stand trial.

Judge Christopher Gee ordered Sharp's referral to the Forensic Psychiatry Center for West Ohio in Dayton for an examination of his competence to stand trial and his mental condition at the time of the offense charge.

Sharp is being held in the county jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.
