Local group buys Oakwood building

A building in the Shops of Oakwood district was sold for $2.6 million to a group of local investors, according to city planner Jay Weiskircher.

The 62,000-square-foot building at 2600 Far Hills Ave was purchased by a group named 48 Acorns Real Estate Co. last week.

The city is unsure of the new owner’s plans for the three-story building, Weiskircher said. But there they’ve been told there will be exterior improvements, and the new owner would entertain leasing space in the building for a new restaurant.

Knowing the building is under local ownership would be a “good thing” for anyone concerned with the purchase, Weiskircher.

“Some of those firms have ongoing lease agreements and it’s to my understanding they’re going to honor those,” Weiskircher said of the current tenants.
