Lyons ends Huber Heights mayoral bid

Huber Heights Councilman Ed Lyons removed his name from the race for mayor, telling the Dayton Daily News he’s worked with or met the remaining three candidates and believes each could serve well if elected.

Lyons said he removed his name last week. Remaining in the race for mayor are Jeff Gore, Albert Griggs Jr., and David Wilson, who recently applied for the vacant Huber Heights City Schools board vacancy.

“I thought about it quite a bit, talked to my family,” Lyons said, “and when a couple names were not on the list that I anticipated being on there, I looked at field with three candidates remaining and felt they had pretty good potential, and I felt I did not need to run.”

Lyons is the incumbent Ward 6 councilman with a term ending Dec. 31, 2019. Tom McMasters, the incumbent mayor, decided he would not seek re-election.
