The township became aware of the modification request at the beginning of March.
The company wants to dig about 60 feet deeper on a 400 acre property according to an earlier report by this publication.
That could affect the numerous wells surrounding the proposed mining site.
Residents voiced their concerns about water, noise, air pollution and the blasting impact the pit could have.
The pit would be near a few businesses, close to 200 homes and a high school.
