Man, armed with box cutter, robs Springfield hotel

Police said a man, armed with a box cutter, robbed the Fairfield Inn in Springfield early Thursday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the hotel at 1870 West First Street around 12:45 a.m. Thursday after an employee reported the robbery.

Dispatchers said the man displayed a box cutter during the robbery, demanded cash, and fled the area on foot.

The suspect was “covered from head to toe” during the incident, according to police. Scanner traffic from investigators indicate the man used a scarf to cover his face and was wearing gloves.

No injuries were reported.
