Middletown approves enhancements to city Gateway

Middletown City Council Tuesday approved a contract for the maintenance and upgrades of the Gateway landscaping along Interstate 75 and Ohio 122.

T.R. Gear Landscaping, Inc., of Fairfield submitted the lowest bid of three bidders for the contract for the total amount of $117,231.17.

Cindy Strayer, city purchasing agent, said the Gateway to the City from the I-75 and SR122 interchange was upgraded by the city and the Ohio Department of Transportation three years ago.

Since that time, she said the city has been responsible for the upkeep of the area. This year, additional irrigation and drainage work will be completed in addition for the routine maintenance as well as the median enhancements such as new perennials, shrubs, mulch, etc.
