Middletown soccer team wins state title

A local youth boys soccer team recently won the 36th annual Ohio SAY Soccer Tournament at Finley Ray Park in Milford.

Team Supercuts won the championship game 3-2, with Hayden Tobias scoring the winning goal with just a few minutes left in the game.

The team from the Middletown Youth Soccer Boys Passers League advanced to the state tournament by winning the Miami Valley South Quarterfinals tournament.

In the championship game, Team Supercuts led 2-0, then the game was tied before the game-winning goal.

The team won 19 consecutive games and is believed to be the first Middletown team to win a state title. The team was coached by Jason Tobias, Shawna Tobias and Samantha Smith and sponsored by Supercuts.
