Miracle League opening day parade set for Saturday

The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League will kick off its 2017 season with a parade, starting at Sacred Heart Church and ending at the fields on Groh Lane.

The route kicks off at 10 a.m. and heads out Sacred Heart’s parking lot, crossing River Road and down Mississippi Drive. The parade then heads north on Groh Lane until it reaches the Miracle League complex just past Groh Farms and the peewee football fields.

The first-time parade will have just as much fanfare as the Cincinnati Reds Opening Day parade, just on a smaller scale, Kim Nuxhall, board chairman of the league that gives people with disabilities the chance to play baseball, and son of the late Reds Hall of Famer Joe Nuxhall.

The April 1 parade will be led by two grand marshals — NFL Hall of Famer and former Bengal Anthony Munoz and Local 12 anchor Sheila Gray — and is sponsored by Mike’s Car Wash
