Oakwood couple starts tropical drink business

DAX rents machine, ingredients for parties.

Call it a staycation with perks. An Oakwood couple has brought the deliciousness of a tropical vacation to Dayton with their new drink machine rental business.

Now home entertainers and their guests can conveniently sip on a frozen margarita, daiquiri, pina colada or any other frozen cocktail in the yard.

Jason and Katherine Cezeaux found a need in the area and have filled that need with DAX. “We’re both from San Antonio (Texas), and down there frozen drinks are very popular,” said Katherine. “It was common to see a drink machine at parties. We provide our customer with the materials needed to offer their guests premium, restaurant-quality frozen daiquiris and drinks without the work. Be free of the blender and leave the clean up to us,” she said.

Katherine was raised in the restaurant industry, and Jason has spent a lot of time working in restaurants. “Eventually, when we’re retired we’d love to open a restaurant. DAX was the perfect way to get our toes wet,” said Katherine.

Jason said they did a lot of research on buying the best product. They chose a New Orleans-based supplier.

Katherine and Jason say this business is the perfect fit for their busy lives. Jason is a nuclear engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base working on his doctorate. Katherine is a former teacher who now is a freelance curriculum advisor. The couple has three children.

Calling their business a niche market, the Katherine and Jason are tasting success. “We’ve been asked to several festivals, including the upcoming Greek Festival (September in Dayton), which is exciting,” said Jason. “And we’ve provided our product to many private parties throughout the area.”

They said graduation-party time was busy for them. “Word of mouth has been incredible. These frozen drinks are fun and so easy.”

They have been in business since March of this year.

When a customer orders DAX, the fee covers delivery, complete set up and pick up of a sanitized machine. Every DAX machine comes on its own cart, which means no counter space is used. The first batch of the mix is included in the cost. Each additional bottle is $20. The Cezeaux’s have also made their frozen beverage machines available to businesses. “If they don’t want to hassle with machine upkeep and maintenance, DAX can provide a unique twist to their menu with our easy and affordable machine leasing options,” said Jason.

The mixes used by DAX are made with real fruit. “Our pina colada is made with real cream of coconut. It’s my personal favorite,” said Katherine. Beverage options range from mai tai and hurricane to peach bellini, Jack and cola and blue Hawaiian.

All drink mixes are alcohol-free. The customer is responsible for adding alcohol if they want it.

Katherine says their business services many children’s parties. “The slushy lemonade and strawberry is a favorite.”
