Protesters to Dayton City Commission: We’re against Garden Station move

UPDATE @ 8:30 p.m.: An estimated two dozen people addressed the Dayton City Commission this evening to speak against the relocation of Garden Station.

Maggie Ottoson, who was on the committee that helped secure funding for the garden, threatened there would be political consequences for the commission if the members went ahead with the decision to relocate the garden.

FIRST REPORT

Dozens of protesters representing at least three issues have crowded into the Dayton City Commission this evening.

An estimated 60 to 70 people are at City Hall.

There are protesters there for the RTA bus drivers' union. Drivers staged a protest in downtown Dayton this week over the issue of not having a contract and other issues.

There are protesters there for the relocation of Garden Station as well. Those who have filed into commission chambers this evening are there to urge city leadership to halt its eviction of Garden Station.

They are carrying signs and chanting “save garden station” ahead of the commission’s regular meeting.

We will have more on this developing report.
