Woman suffers serious injury in crash near Echo Hills golf course in Piqua

A woman suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash near the Echo Hills golf course in Piqua Wednesday morning.

Police and fire crews were dispatched around 8 a.m. to the 2200 block of Echo Lake Drive in Piqua on reports of vehicle that crashed into a tree.

The vehicle went off the roadway for an unknown reason, hit a utility pole, went through a fence, and crashed head-on into a tree, according to investigators.

The driver, only identified as a woman, was first transported to Upper Valley Medical Center before being transferred to Miami Valley Hospital. Investigators described her injuries as serious.

Weather conditions are not believed to be a factor and the crash remains under investigation.

A driver is reportedly unconscious following a single-vehicle crash near the Echo Hills Municipal Golf Course in Piqua Wednesday.

Crews responded to the 2100 block of Echo Lake Drive in Piqua around 8 a.m. and reported a vehicle slammed into a tree.

Initial reports indicate a driver suffered a serious head injury in the crash. A medical helicopter was requested by fire crews but was unable to fly to the scene due to weather conditions.

A CareFlight ground ambulance is reportedly meeting medics at Upper Valley Medical Center to transport the driver to Miami Valley Hospital, according to scanner traffic.
