Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen

The Dayton area’s newest Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — a 2,791-square-foot restaurant that seats 46 diners — is open at 1100 S. Main St. (Ohio 48) in Englewood. The chain is known for its fried chicken and Cajun-style side dishes.

Asian Too

Asian Too, a new restaurant in the Mall at Fairfield Commons food court, opened to the public Sept. 1. The space previously housed Cajun Ming. The restaurant describes its concept this way: “decided to start fresh and focus on building a new company that would blend his experience, passion and knowledge of food court concepts, while allowing him the creative freedom to explore new opportunities for Asian cuisine.”

Coming Soon

Cardboard Crowns

The gamer café that is nearing completion near the Dayton Mall is hiring in anticipation of its mid-October opening. Cardboard Crowns at 147 N. Springboro Pike (Ohio 741) in the Corners at the Mall retail center intends to employ eight to 10 part-time “Game Masters” who are “positive, friendly, outgoing, and sociable” for evening shifts, founder Ben T. Adams said.

Epic Coffee Shoppe

A new, independently owned coffee, tea and ice cream shop is in the works at one of the busiest intersections Kettering. Epic Coffee Shoppe is scheduled to open this fall at 22 W. Stroop Road just west of Far Hills Ave. (Ohio 48).

The shop will serve several artisan coffee drinks as well as ice cream, and one of its signature offerings will be “Affogato” — an Italian-style coffee drink consisting of a scoop of ice cream topped with a shot of hot espresso

Burger King

Burger King is developing a new restaurant at 9198 Dayton-Lebanon Pike, south of Centerville, at a site that previously housed a car wash.

The location near the Skeeter Lane intersection is virtually surrounded by other fast-food chain restaurants. Arby’s, McDonald’s and Taco Bell are the three consecutive businesses to its south, and Subway, Pizza Hut and Dairy Queen are with a block or two to the north. Starbucks and Skyline Chili are across the street.

Duck Donuts

The Dayton area’s first Duck Donuts is finishing construction and could open by the end of the month. “(We’re) aiming for end of September or beginning of October if all goes well!” the shop’s franchise owners said on the shop’s Facebook page.

Hunger Paynes Beer & Wine Garden

A popular Dayton-based food truck has signed a lease to open a beer and wine pub inside the Dayton Mall. Plans call for the new location to serve some of the same signature croquettes offered by the Hunger Paynes food truck.

The new pub will have 12 taps, all devoted exclusively to local breweries, and it will also offer wines from southwest Ohio wineries, Payne said. A signature wine slushie also is planned. The food menu will extend beyond croquettes to include offerings such as tacos and cheese plates.
