Severe weather possible, wind advisory for Sunday

Severe weather could affect today's "Battle of Ohio" football game in Cincinnati and some areas of the Miami Valley could see wind gusts over 50 m.p.h.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the entire area starting at 10 a.m. Sunday until midnight. Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson says winds could be at least 30 m.p.h, with winds being even stronger due to potential thunderstorms in the early evening.

Sunday will become windy with rain at times through the day, "and possibly a stray rumble of thunder," Simpson said. Temperatures will climb into the upper 60s in the late afternoon.

Severe weather may strike in the early evening, with the most likely window being from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

"Like Halloween evening, a spin-up of a tornado cannot be ruled out," he said. "But in these situations they are typically short lived and weak."

Simpson said our area is under a moderate risk of severe weather, according to the NWS.

Temperatures will drop into the lower 40s by Monday morning.
