Thanksgiving travel: Best days to buy plane tickets

The holidays are coming.

And if you plan to travel to be with family for Thanksgiving don’t wait.

According to Cindy Antrican, AAA Public Affairs Manager, the earlier you book your flight the better.

“Book far in advance to get the best options and price.  Avoid traveling Wednesday before thanksgiving and the Sunday after – 2 busiest traveling days of the year.”

“Arrive at airport at least 2 hours ahead of departure time.  Because flights will be full, keep that in mind if you have carryon luggage, may want to consider checking luggage,” said Antrican.

Preparation is an important aspect to traveling, whether it be to save money or to make have a smoother trip.

Skyscanner, a travel search engine site, recently identified the best times to schedule flights for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years for the most savings. You still have time to grab a good deal for Thanksgiving if you book the week of Oct. 31.
