The Simpsons’ respond to prediction of Trump winning election

A lot of people were surprised by the results of the 2016 presidential election but not the creators of The Simpsons.

The Simpsons have actually made a few accurate predictions in the show's history.

Here are three examples:

Trump becoming president of the United States

Back in 2000, this Fox animated series aired an episode called “Bart to the Future.”

In this episode, Bart and his family are visiting a casino when he encounters an American Indian who tells his future.

The episode jumps to the year 2030 where another character, Lisa is the first female president and is working to rebuild the country after Donald Trump’s presidency.

When asked later about the choice of using Donald Trump, one of the writers for the show, Dan Greaney said, "...that just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom. It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane."

Bart Simpson is voiced by the award-winning actress and Dayton native Nancy Catrwright.

The show acknowledged the results of the election recently in the series’ opening gag, where Bart could be seen writing on a chalkboard “Being Right Sucks.”

Did "Lisa's Sax" predict the Ebola outbreak?

"Lisa's Sax" described Bart's first day of school and subsequently how Lisa recieved her saxaphone.

But an interesting tidbit, it also feautred the Ebola virus. The epsiode shows Marge offering a sick Bart a book titled "Curious Geroge and the Ebola Virus."

In Sept. 30, 2014, the Centers for  Disesase Control and Prevention confirmed the first reported case of the virus in the United States.

With voting machines, The Simpsons knew their stuff.

Everyone remembers the outrage at voting machines during the 2012 presidential election, when some machines selected Republican candidate Mitt Romney instead of incumbent Barack Obama.

In The Simpsons' 2008 Halloween special, "Treehouse of Horror XIX," Homer selects Obama but the machine registers his selection as John McCain.

The real-life issue was almost a complete reenactment of the episode.
