The moratorium temporarily bans cultivation, processing, and retail dispensing of medical marijuana.
The idea of medical marijuana is new to the community. Trustee Mike Lang said that the township’s code does not adequately address the cultivation and distribution of medical marijuana and more time is needed to address the topic.

Trustee Ken Betz, who also serves as the Director of the Miami Valley Regional Crime Lab and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, said that drug overdoses have reached a crisis in the county and that medical marijuana has no place in the Butler Twp. community.
Trustees passed the moratorium at their March 27 meeting.
The next Butler Twp. trustee meeting will be held on April 10 at 7 p.m. at 3510 Sudachi Dr.
