Neavin’s announcement came as part of the information regarding the board of education’s next meeting, which is Tuesday.
Board members then are expected to vote on Neavin’s resignation for the purpose of retirement as well as the appointment of Rob O’Leary as assistant superintendent.

O’Leary is currently serving the district as the director of pupil services and human resources.
Neavin’s retirement comes after a 32-year career in education as a teacher, high school assistant principal, elementary principal, high school principal and superintendent.

Neavin has served as superintendent since 2013, when he succeeded Christy Donnelly. Neavin signed a three-year extension in 2016 that would have expired in July, 2019.
