VIDEO: Riverside police looking for vehicle that struck man

Riverside police are searching for a vehicle that struck and injured a man crossing the street in the area of Airway Road and Woodman Drive Friday morning.

Surveillance video captured from a nearby business shows the man crossing the street and being struck by a car.

Police said the victim, Justin Wessler, of Riverside, was discovered later by someone who was passing through the area and notices someone appearing to be injured laying by the side of the road, said Maj. Matt Sturgeon with Riverside Police.

“It took a couple minutes further to determine the guy had been struck by a vehicle,” Sturgeon said.  “It appears that they were crossing the roadway, but not within the crosswalk.”

Wessler was crossing the street on his way to work at the nearby McDonald’s, according to the manager of the restaurant.

The hit-and-run pedestrian crash was reported to have happened around 6:50 a.m. and Wessler has been treated and released from the hospital.

Anyone who may know anything about the crash is asked to contact Riverside Police at 937-233-1801.
