White Allen gets OK to build second dealership near Dayton Mall

UPDATE @ 7:50 p.m.: A longtime Dayton area automobile business has been approved to build a second dealership on Ohio 741 near the Dayton Mall.

A plan for White Allen to build a Volkswagen dealership next to the White Allen European Auto Group on Springboro Pike was passed by Miami Twp. Trustees Tuesday night.

The move paves the way White Allen to add to its Dayton area operations - which began in the 1930s and includes Chevrolet and Honda dealerships – with a project that is expected to cost at least $3 million.

The dealership would add to an automobile sales corridor near the Dayton Mall that includes four Matt Castrucci lots on Mall Park Drive, Walker Toyota on Ohio 741 just south of the mall and Interstate Ford on Ohio 725 west of I-75.

The plan calls for a 20,200 square foot dealership to be built on 3.6 acres, as trustees and the township’s zoning commission last month approved a modifications allowing final plans to be submitted.

Both the zoning commission and trustees had earlier rejected a proposal involving a 9,000 square foot pre-owned dealership.

White Allen plans to buy the land from Zengel Construction Co., Tim White Jr., eastern operations manager for the company, has said.

Zengel also developed the Vienna Parkway neighborhood east of the site. Residents have been concerned that another dealership would infringe on their property.
