Miamisburg bicentennial: Events marking 200th birthday start Saturday

This weekend is the first of multiple events this year celebrating Miamisburg’s bicentennial, which will include a week of festivities in June.

Surrounding the events from June 16-23, the Miamisburg Bicentennial Committee will hold at least one monthly event commemorating the Feb. 20, 1818, founding of Miamisburg.

While the list will be finalized by March 1, the following events are planned to mark the city’s 200th birthday prior to the June celebration:

-Concert, 7 p.m. Jan. 27, Memorial Auditorium on Sixth Street. The event will feature the music of the Miamisburg High School Band/Orchestra and Choir.

-Founders Day Dinner, Feb. 20, Baum Opera House on First Street. Doors open at 5 p.m. followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and program at 7 p.m. The program will feature the premier of "The River Runs Through," a documentary of the history of Miamisburg.

-Miamisburg Merchants Association Annual Monte Carlo, March 2, Baum Opera House. The event features gaming, a silent auction and food.

-Tree City USA Regional Luncheon and Awards, April 20, the B&B Riverfront Hall on South Main Street. The event will recognize the bicentennial celebration as well as cities being recognized as a Tree City USA.

-Miamisburg Spring Fling, the annual community festival commonly held the third weekend in May, which this year is May 19-21, downtown Miamisburg.
