Miamisburg’s renewed focus on blight includes a new ally

Miamisburg is working with Wright State University on a program aimed at combating neighborhood blight, beefing up code enforcement and driving away drug use.

The city is focusing on an area north of the downtown district and working with Wright State students, who will perform a “conditions assessment” on the targeted area, Miamisburg City Manager Keith Johnson said.

The city has hired a second code enforcement officer and developed a grant “for some of the property owners who may not have the means to fix up their houses,” Johnson said.

It is also promoting neighborhood watch groups for the area, he said.
