A study by the council indicates several benefits, according to member records. Among them:
-Connecting cities to each other in ways that allow for joint projects involving crime mapping and shared 911 systems without paying for third-party data circuits.
-Reducing long-term dependence to Internet service providers by building its own network.

-Laying infrastructure that will bring new telecommunication vendors to the area;
-Providing access to the network to area non-profits and businesses.
Miamisburg’s portion for construction would be $97,869 during the next 10 years, as well as about $4,000 annually for maintenance work, city records show.

The city’s council is set to meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Miamisburg Civic Center, 10 N. First St.
The MVCC study was paid for by a $100,000 grant applied for in 2013, records show.
