Middletown city manager withdraws as semifinalist for Florida job

Middletown’s city manager was named one of seven semi-finalists for a similar position in Plant City, Fla.

However, City Manager Doug Adkins told this news outlet today that he is no longer a candidate for the job.

“I withdrew my name from consideration the day they made the announcements for who they wanted to interview, which was Nov. 26,” Adkins said. “It was an interesting position in a warm climate, but I like what I’m doing here.”

Adkins said he was recruited by a search firm and did submit a resume.

He told this news outlet he has never interviewed, been asked to interview or been named a semi-finalist elsewhere for a similar job.

“I am very happy with the job, my pay and the support of city council,” he said.
