Middletown man overdoses in jail on drugs stashed in buttocks

A Middletown man was transported to the hospital Sunday from the city jail after apparently overdosing on heroin found in his buttocks, according to police.

At about 12:40 p.m. a corrections officer at the Middletown City Jail observed Eugene Mongar Jr. falling down in a holding cell, according to a police report.

When officers arrived, it appeared Mongar was overdosing and paramedics were called. A search of Mongar turned up a “tied off baggie containing a brown chunky substance in Mr. Mongar’s buttocks,” the officers stated in the report.

The substance tested positive for heroin, according to police.
