Montgomery County to discuss water, sewer rate increases tonight

Miami Twp. residents with questions about Montgomery County’s water and sewer rate increases can ask them tonight.

County representatives are scheduled to address the issue at the township’s board of trustees meeting. The county is planning on annual rate increases, starting with a 14 percent hike to take effect on Jan. 1.

An average county residential customer pays about $170 each quarter for their water and sewer service, according to the township. The rate increase will add about $24 to that quarterly bill in 2018. Next year’s rate increase will vary based on meter size, so customers with larger meters will see a larger increase.

About 81,000 county customers in all will see their combined water and sewer rate also go up an additional 5.6 percent each year from 2019-2022, according to a five-year plan announced by the county earlier this month.
