More Dayton-area cities move to ban medical marijuana operations

Medical marijuana bans are in the process in Miamisburg and Moraine.

Miamisburg is set to consider legislation next week to ban the cultivation, processing and retail dispensing of medical marijuana. Moraine held a public hearing on the issue Thursday night and is expected to vote on it next month.

Both cities have had moratoriums on the issue for about a year, while the state has worked to implement guidelines regarding medical marijuana, which became legal in Ohio last September.

Other communities – such as Oakwood, Huber Heights and Butler Twp. – have also rejected the issue. Some communities – Riverside, German Twp., Dayton, Yellow Springs, Mad River Twp., Monroe and Carlisle, among them - have allowed proposals for cultivation sites to move forward.

The Miamisburg City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Miamisburg Civic Center, 10 N. First St.
