Son and brother of two former presidents, Jeb Bush threw his hat into the ring in his bid for the White House.

He announced his candidacy on June 15, 2015.

  • Named John Ellis Bush.  Goes by his initials JEB.
  • Graduated University of Texas with a degree in Latin American Affairs.
  • 1974 - Married Columbia.  Had three children and is a grandfather.
  • 1986 – named Florida's Secretary of Commerce, resigned in 1988 to help his father George H.W. Bush run for President.
  • 1994 – Ran and lost bid for Florida Governor.
  • 1994 – converted to Catholicism
  • 1998 – ran and won race for Governor of Florida.  He served two terms.
  • Cut taxes every year as governor.  Cut state workforce by 13,000. Vetoed over 2,500 lines items in the state budget.
  • Created 1.3 million jobs
  • Helped 80,000 small businesses start as governor.
  • Florida rainy day fund increased from $1 billion to $10 billion.
  • Updated state's testing for students, created tax-supported scholarships.
