5 things to know about Trump’s new executive order on immigration

President Donald Trump signed a new executive order Monday on immigration from six majority-muslim countries.

Here’s a look at the order:

1. Iraq is out: The new ban will remove Iraq from the list, but keep the other six countries Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Iran and Libya – a move that will have particular impact on Columbus, home to the nation's second-largest Somalian population.

2. When does the order go into effect?: March 16

3. Change in refugee order: Though the revised order dropped the original order's indefinite ban on Syrian refugees, it will still halt the U.S. refugee program for 120 days and reduce the annual number of refugees it allows from 110,000 to 50,000.

4. Length of the ban: 90 days for countries, 120 for refugees.

5. Reporting of data: Homeland Security to submit public reports every 180 days on the number of foreign nationals convicted of terrorism-related crimes while in the U.S., among other data.
