Macy's moves up Thanksgiving Day opening time

Macy’s will open its doors at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, one hour earlier than last year.

Macy’s announced the news Monday after BestBlackFriday.com confirmed the 5 p.m. opening with five different Macy’s locations across the country. Most stores will close at 2 a.m. Friday, then reopen at 6 a.m. Friday, the AP reported.

“In 2015 and 2014, they opened at 6 p.m., so this is one hour earlier than last year,” said Eric Jones of BestBlackFriday.com. “Whether other major retailers decide to move up their opening time on Thanksgiving remains to be seen, but Macy’s is the first one to make their decision.”

Last year, Walmart, Target and Kohl’s all opened at 6 p.m., according to BestBlackFriday.com. Toys R Us and Best Buy opened at 5 p.m., the website reports.

Great white makes stunning dive into boat injuring 73-year-old fisherman

It could have been a scene out of the movie “Jaws.” In a stunning move, a nine-foot great white shark leaped out of the water and dove onto a fishing boat off the coast of New South Wales, injuring a 73-year-old fisherman. In 60 years of fishing, Terry Selwood told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation he’s never seen anything like...

Dominick Bailey sat at his computer, scrutinizing the medication lists of patients in the geriatric unit. A doctor had prescribed blood pressure medication for a 99-year-old woman at a dose that could cause her to faint or fall. An 84-year-old woman hospitalized for knee surgery was taking several drugs that were not meant for older patients because...

A birth defect gave him a gift: a nearly impossible-to-hit curveball

When he was young, Dylan Rosnick just wanted to play baseball, a simple enough request for a child growing up in the Loudoun County exurbs.  He wanted to tie his shoes, too, and hold a pencil the right way, and button his shirt, and brush his teeth. There's not a lot of guidance, though, for a child with Proteus syndrome, a genetic disorder that...
