Airline passengers can be very annoying especially if there is a noisy baby, random person sleeping on your arm, or a turkey sitting beside you. No, really, a turkey can be on your flight.

A turkey was a passenger on a recent Delta flight after Twitter user Moesha Mitchel tweeted that the animal was beside her on the flight as someone's "emotional support animal," The Telegraph reports. The picture was later picked up on Reddit with the bird being called a "therapy pet."

According to the National Service Animal Registry, an "emotional support animal" is "a pet that has been prescribed by a person's licensed therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist. The animal is part of the treatment program for this person and is designed to bring comfort and minimize the negative symptoms of the person's emotional/psychological disability."

The Telegraph reports Delta rules stipulate that customers can travel with “emotional support animals” as long as they are properly trained for public situations with the animals also being able to travel free of charge.

However, the turkey may have escaped being kicked off the flight as the rules also state that Delta doesn't allow some animals "due to safety and/or public health concerns" with turkeys making the list along with hedgehogs, ferrets and reptiles.
