Nearly 90 percent of voters OK Reily Twp. fire, EMS levy

An overwhelming majority of Reily Twp.’s voters — 89.99 percent — approved the 2.75-mill fire and EMS fire levy request on Tuesday.

The overwhelming support for the fire and EMS levy means the township will be able to keep its current maintenance for the next five years, which it is anticipated the township will go back to the voters.

The 2.75-mill fire and EMS levy renewal will not raise taxes and will continue to cost the owner of a $100,000 home $79.17.

The levy is estimated to raise $192,000 a year, according to the Butler County Auditor’s Office.

If the levy would have failed, the township would have still been required to provide service, Reily Twp. officials told the Journal-News.

Reily Twp. has slightly more than 2,600 residents.

The department — was named the Ohio Volunteer Fire Department of the Year in 2013 — has a total of 34 volunteers, some who are just firefighters, some who are just medics and some who are cross-trained as both.
