Opening day today for new Mike’s Nashville Hot in Centerville

The Mike's Nashville Hot restaurant at 6230 Far Hills Ave. (Ohio 48) in the Shops of North Village retail center in Centerville opens today, Monday Jan. 30.

The Centerville restaurant will be the second in the Dayton area for the locally owned and operated Mike’s Nashville Hot. The first location opened Nov. 23 in the Austin Landing development in Miami Twp., and has enjoyed an enthusiastic reception from customers following its debut, founder Mike Craddick said.

The 2,700-square-foot restaurant in Centerville is next to a Jimmy John's sandwich shop that opened in May 2014. The new chicken restaurant seats about 72, and will employ about 40.

At Mike’s Nashville Hot, guests can set the spice level on their chicken, from traditional to Yankee Mild to Midwest Medium to Southern Heat to Nashville Hot, the spiciest level. The menu also includes salads and sides such as Mac ‘n’ Cheese, Hash Brown Casserole and Sweet Potato Fries. Desserts include Apple Cobbler and DLM Killer Brownie.

Craddick — who also operates four Dayton-area Five Guys Burgers & Fries as well as the Another Broken Egg restaurant in Austin Landing — has said he intends to expand the Mike’s Nashville Hot footprint throughout a nine-county area surrounding Dayton, starting this year. Each Mike’s Nashville Hot also offers catering.

The region is becoming quite a hotbed of competition among chicken chains, as Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, Chick-fil-A, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and other chains targeting the Miami Valley for expansion where Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken and KFC already operate several restaurants. Chick-fil-A opened two new restaurants on the same day last week in Kettering and Troy.
