Opening day today for Washington Twp. sports bar & grill

It's opening day today for the Submarine House bar and grill at 503 Miamisburg-Centerville Road in the Normandy Square Shopping Center in Washington Twp.

The new sports bar is overseen by franchise owner Jeremy McDaniel. The space previously housed a Blockbuster Video but has been vacant for several years.

The new Submarine House — one of the local chain’s bar-and-grill concept pubs — seats 160 and employs about 40. An existing, smaller Submarine House sub shop five blocks west at 1000 Miamisburg-Centerville Road shut down in conjunction with the Normandy Square sports pub opening, and its employees will transferred to the new restaurant.

Founded in 1973 with a location on Brown Street near the University of Dayton, Submarine House opened its first bar-and-grill concept in 2006, and now operates nine locations, six of them bar-and-grills. Eight of the restaurants are in the Dayton area, and one bar-and-grill is in Hilliard in suburban Columbus.
