The husband of a woman found dead in a Cedarville ditch this month has been charged in her death.
Kayla A. Archer, also known as Kayla Herchelroath, of Terre Haute, Ind., was found by a motorist around 6 p.m. on June 7 close to the intersection of Rakestraw and Federal roads.
Her body showed no signs of body decomposition, according to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
Archer’s husband, 49-year-old Lorenzo Archer of Harrisburg, Pa., was taken into custody less than a week later on June 13 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on charges related to her death, according the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
Kayla Archer, 44, also did not have any ties to the area, according to law enforcement officials.
The case will be prosecuted in Terre Haute, said local authorities.
Terre Haute Police Chief John Plasse did not return phone calls to the Dayton Daily News seeking comment.
A spokesman for the Greene County Sheriff’s Office said last week that authorities know how Kayla Archer was killed but would not release that information until the coroner’s report is completed in a few weeks.
“The investigative success thus far on this case is due to our personnel’s continuing hard work and the focused teamwork of our law enforcement partners in Terre Haute, along with the cooperative efforts of the Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification,” said Greene County Gene Fischer in a written statement.
