DUI limits around the world
A federal agency on Tuesday recommended that states lower the blood alcohol content limit from 0.08 percent to 0.05 percent. More than 100 countries use 0.05 percent limit. Here’s a look at some national limits

What do you think?
We asked followers on our Facebook page what they think of lowering the DUI limit. Here’s a look at some of the responses:
Anthony Peyton: 0.05? You can probably get that “drunk” by rinsing your mouth with Listerine. I have to wonder if this really has anything to do with safety anymore, or if it’s just about feeding revenue to the municipalities and counties, as well as our for-profit prison system.
Marcia Berg: Yep. If you just don’t drink and drive, you don’t have anything to worry about. Stop taking other people’s lives into your hands!
Daryl Comley: I think the number is meaningless. I would rather ride with some alcoholics at .2 than some rookies at .05.
Susan Schleiger: I guess I can no longer have my Margarita at the local Mexican place with dinner…
Patrick McMullen: I’d rather see laws about people putting on makeup, driving without insurance, texting and talking on a cell phone in an animated manner. Focus more on repeat offenders, not people that had a drink or two with dinner.
