What do you think of raising the speed limit?
We asked our followers on Facebook what they think of Ohio possibly raising the speed limit to 70 on some highways. Join the conversation at Facebook.com/daytondailynews.
Here are some of the responses:
Melanie Baker: People cant drive correctly at 65 and we want them to go faster why?
Denise Perry: Means I can drive 80!
Mark Cooper: Everyone already drives 70. No one gets pulled over at that speed. Raise it to 70 and everyone will drive 75.
Jessica Nichols: There are several other states that have it at 70. I say go for it.
Troy Stewart: Why stop at 70…make it 85 so I/we can get where we’re going.
Jerry Orf: Most Interstate highway drivers don’t pay attention to speed limits anyway.
Norma Grooms: When I go 65 everyone passes me!
Bryan Taulbee: With a 65 limit, most are driving somewhere between 70 and 80 already. With a 70 limit, will we drive at 75-85? That’s just too fast.
Julie Jessee Tipton: I don’t have a problem with it. People usually go 70 or more anyway.
Angela Schilling Johnson: I go 70 anyways so at least now I’ll be legal!
Christina Smith: Why not… people already drive that fast anyway. All except for the occasional slow person.
Maggie Staugler: I do not think this is good at all! Look at all the crashes and deaths we already have at 65 mph and people going 70 mph or more so you know they are going to drive 75 mph or more if this passes.
