UPDATE @ 11:18 p.m. (Sept. 21): A 19-year-old West Carrollton student remained in jail Wednesday night, where he was being detained pending the filing of a misdemeanor charge of illegal conveyance accusing him of bringing an airsoft-style gun to school.
Gabriel Verity Caudill is due in court Thursday morning.
According to jail records, Verity Caudill was arrested about 1:55 p.m. by West Carrollton police and booked into the Montgomery County Jail just before 4 p.m. He remained in jail Wednesday night with bail set at $2,500.
FIRST REPORT (Sept. 21)
A West Carrollton High School student was arrested this afternoon after he was suspected of bringing an airsoft-style gun to school.
Police responding to the school around 1:30 p.m. and immediately took the student, who is an adult, into custody, according to West Carrollton Deputy Chief David Wesslinger.
Wesslinger said there was no threat made by the suspect and there was no harm to any other individuals.
Police plan to present the case to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office to determine if any official charges will be filed in the case.
West Carrollton Superintendent Rusty Clifford said he was aware of the student’s arrest, however would not comment further on the circumstances of the arrest.
