The winners of the 2013 Ten Top Women award will be introduced today at the Dayton Women’s Fair at the Dayton Airport Expo Center.
Those receiving the prestigious award will be honored on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at the Sinclair Community College Ponitz Center. More than 550 attended the event last year.
“Building on a half-century tradition, The Dayton Daily News and Cox Media Group Ohio continue to support Ten Top Women,” said Julia Wallace, market vice president of Cox Media Group Ohio. “Like all the women recognized during the past 50 years, the women being recognized this year are each taking their place on the select honor roll of Dayton’s top women. We are privileged to be associated with these women of the Miami Valley and admire this diverse group of women who give so much to our community.”
More than 100 nominations for the award were received this year.
The 2013 Ten Top Women are: Kimberly Duncan, founding partner/owner of Elements IV Interiors, Sandy Gudorf, president of the Downtown Dayton Partnership; Lynda Hoffman, Community Affairs Manager for Vectren Ohio; Rhoda Mahran, Volunteer Adjunct Professor of Community Health at Wright State University School of Medicine; Judge Frances McGee, Court of Pleas, Montgomery County and State of Ohio; Maureen Patterson, Dayton Development Coalition; Michelle Riley, Chief Executive Officer of The Foodbank, Inc., Joann Ringer, Chief Operating Officer of Miami Valley Hospital South; Beth Mehlberth Whelley, Senior Vice President of Fahlgren Mortine advertising agency; Marie P. (Penny) Wolff, Enrichment Coordinator for the Seedling Foundation of Stivers School of the Arts
In the past 51 years, 510 women have been recognized with the community award. Judges for this year’s awards were David Bohardt, president of St. Vincent DePaul; David Clapper, Director of Facilities Management/Safety Standard Register; Linda Lombard, community volunteer and Cathy Ponitz, executive director of CareSource and a past Ten Top Woman.
The words spoken by the honorees are always a highlight of the event, with each woman sharing personal thoughts about the challenges and inspiration in her life.
The emcee for this year’s event will be WHIO-TV news anchor Letitia Perry.
