A man with ties to Preble County has been accused of possessing thousands of images of child porn and attempting to arrange a nude photo shoot with a young girl, according to court documents.
Larry Bright, who often stayed with a girlfriend in New Paris, is accused of working with the father of a 13-year-old Tennessee girl to take nude photos of the girl and possibly have sex with her, according to an affidavit in support of an arrest warrant filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. Bright was arrested by authorities on Tuesday.
The daughter told police her father took naked photos of her and instructed her to speak with Bright via text message.
The girl told authorities that Bright indicated he had a relative who recently had a baby and he wanted to have sex with the minor and the baby, the affidavit states.
Tennessee authorities said during their investigation into the Tennessee father of the minor, they found on his phone a photo of his daughter holding a handwritten sign between her legs that read, “Larry Please Do My First Photo Shoot!!!”
Bright was previously at the center of an investigation into child exploitation in the Richmond area in Indiana.
In 2004, a then 19-year-old girl told police that for years she had been chatting online with a man who she believed was in his 20s.
The teen said she sent nude and racy photos of herself to the man when she was a minor, and he talked sexual to her and asked for graphic photos.
Police said there was insufficient evidence to charge Bright in that case.
Undercover detectives with the Indiana State Police said they chatted with Bright online and he shared a pornographic image of a young girl, the affidavit states. Bright also allegedly wanted to set up a photo shoot with a 13-year-old girl invented by detectives.
On Tuesday, authorities said they served federal search warrants at three locations associated with Bright. Two are located in Richmond Indiana, and the other was the home in New Paris.
Authorities said they located Bright at a business in Richmond, and he allegedly admitted to sharing child porn with “at least” 30 other people, the affidavit stated.
Authorities said they discovered about 13,000 images and videos on his smartphone that included child porn.
Thursday afternoon, Bright’s employer, Tristatebid.com, in which he is part owner, issued a statement regarding Bright’s arrest.
“Tristatebid.com employees had no knowledge of the alleged activities prior to his arrest on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013,” the company said. “Tristate bid is an online auction company with seven full time employees.”
