100+ attend public hearing on Greenville intersection improvements

UPDATE @ 9:35 p.m. (Jan. 24): GREENVILLE -- More than 100 people attended a public hearing with ODOT officials to share possible solutions to make a dangerous intersection safer.

The intersection under review is U.S. 127 and Kruckeberg Road, just east of Greenville.

One suggestion offered to Ohio Department of Transportation project team members was a traffic light but ODOT said that would cause more crashes with traffic traveling at 60 to 70 mph.

ODOT officials have said the estimated cost of the improvement is $6 million. They also have said the improvement, the plans for which are still in the preliminary stages, would be completed in 2020.

The public has until Feb. 24 to submit written comments to ODOT offering suggestions and concerns for that intersection.
