Miami University officials credit conservative spending as a big part of why their overall financial health has remained among the strongest in the state in recent years. But this doesn't mean the Oxford university's payroll isn't growing.
Payroll records obtained as part of the I-Team Payroll Project show Miami paid 13 people more than $300,000 last year and 69 people more than $200,000. Both figures are an increase from 2014.

Many of the school's top earners are administrators — 24 people had the words "vice president" in their title. University critics say"administrative bloat" is a driver in increasing college costs statewide.
Some of those administrators are getting paid even after leaving their jobs. Former football coach Don Treadwell made $55,374 last year even though he was fired in 2013. David Hodge ended his tenure as Miami's president this month, but will stay on at the same pay rate.
