Recent rainfall and flooding leads to a new use for ODOT snow plow

When heavy rain falls in the Miami Valley, the usual flood-prone roads get closed to traffic.

Rip Rap Road in Huber Heights, Factory Road in Beavercreek and Hilltop Road in Xenia are closed often after heavy downpours.

On Friday morning, State Route 725 in Sugarcreek Twp. was another of these "usual" flooding spots. What made this road a bit different than the others was the amount of debris that covered the roadway.

Grass, leaves, branches and litter from Sackett-Wright Park floated onto State Route 725 overnight. But ODOT crews were ready. After snow removal less than a week ago, the ODOT trucks are still equipped with snow plows -- and they put one to good use clearing the obstacles.
