Restaurant news: 3 new, 11 coming soon, 1 closed

The coffee shop has opened its newest shop on North Main Street just south of I-70 in Englewood.

Liu Garden 

Located on the ground floor of the Biltmore Towers, Liu Gardens offers an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet during weekdays, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bar Dumaine

Bar Dumaine is the successor restaurant to Rue Dumaine in Centerville and offers a more casual dining experience. The restaurant has expanded its hours and will be open form 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week.

Firehouse Subs 

Firehouse Subs is set to open two new restaurant in the Dayton-area, Englewood and Centerville. Both of these restaurants are projected to open by early April.

R Taco

R Taco, a Texas-based chain, will open its doors on Brown Street near the University of Dayton on March 13. The restaurant will seat about 80 inside and an additional 25 on the patio.

Merit Grill

Planning to open on March 1, Merit Grill will offer a Latin-influenced menu with dishes from around the world. The restaurant will take the place of the recently closed Kettering Grill.

The Highland Stag

Plans are in place for this Celtic-themed pub, located at the former SG@75 Gastropub in Springboro, to open this spring. It will seat approximately 95 inside and about 40 more on the patio.

Glo Juice Bar + Café

Projected to open this spring, this new business on Brown Street in Dayton will offer cold-pressed juices and smoothies, a variety of toasts and perhaps a selection of cold sandwiches.

The Gyro Room 

The restaurant’s menu will include gyros, chicken gyros, vegetarian gyros, souvlaki, falafel, Greek salads and baklava. The owner of the 1,500-square-foot restaurant is aiming for a March opening on Brown Street near the University of Dayton.

Mr. Boro’s Tavern

With more than a year of planning, this 3,000-square-foot tavern is set to open March 14 in Springboro. The pub will focus on local breweries’ selections and signature cocktails, and its menu will include pizzas, specialty grilled-cheese sandwiches, chili, appetizers and salads, co-founder Marci Johannes said.

Popeyes Louisiana Chicken 

Known for its fried chicken and Cajun-style side dishes, Popeyes will open two new locations in the Dayton area. Plans are in place for the new restaurant in Englewood to seat 46 and have a drive-through. The projected opening date is Aug. 1.

The plans for a restaurant in Springboro are to be submitted by April, said Pat Gilligan, franchise owner of Dayton-area Popeyes.

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers

The 3,576-sqaure-foot restaurant plans to open as early as May, according to Andria Morgan, marketing manager for Raising Cane’s Dayton-area franchise.

Plans call for the restaurant to be built on a vacant lot adjacent to a Speedway on Kemp Road in Beavercreek.

Wingstop 

The Dallas-based chicken restaurant recently submitted a liquor application to serve beer in the South Towne Center off of Ohio 725.

Victor’s Taco Shop

The local taco-and-burrito carry-out chain is placing the final touches on its newest location in Xenia. The opening date has not yet been set for the restaurant, located at 483 W. Main St.

Phantom Pizza

Phantom Pizza, which opened in December 2014, shut down in early February. The locally owned shop has plans in place to open a new location outside of the mall.
