The city next year intends to spend less than $47.2 million in its general fund, down from $50.8 million this year. This year’s spending included a $3.45 million payment to the Community Improvement Corporation of Hamilton, which is being used to redevelop the Main Street corridor.
One thing that will affect future city finances is the possibility officials will seek a levy to repair crumbling streets.
Smith recently told council that 63 cents of every city general-fund dollar go toward public safety, with another 26 cents going toward major city departments.
Hamilton City Council also plans to meet two other Wednesdays this year: Dec. 13 and Dec. 20.
