Knucklehead of the Week
J.R. Smith was fined $50,000 last week by the NBA for a transgression that is original and just a little amusing. The New York Knicks guard tried to untie an opponent’s shoelaces in consecutive games. He was warned the first time, but like a kid who can’t help himself when cookies are cooling in the kitchen, Smith did it again. He also was fined this season for violating the league’s anti-drug program and getting hostile on Twitter. Total fines: $328,000.
