About Dayton: The Flyers were ranked 30th in the RPI through Thursday. … Kavanaugh, Devon Scott, Kendall Pollard and Jalen Robinson, Dayton’s four big men, combined to shoot 12 of 13 from the field Wednesday in a 56-46 victory over Delaware State. Coach Archie Miller said, “They did a good job. We’ve got to get them the ball a little more. The more we can get them the ball, the better off we will be.”
About Illinois State: The Redbirds finished 18-15 last season, their fifth winning season in the last six years. They’ve made four NIT appearances in that span. Their last NCAA touranment appearance came in 1998. … This is the third non-conference home game at Redbird Arena against a top-25 team. The Redbirds lost to No. 23 UNLV in 2010 and to No. 23 Purdue in 1999. … This is Illinois State’s second game against a ranked team this season and second game against an Atlantic 10 team. It lost 96-58 at VCU in its season opener Nov. 8. … Illinois State drew 4,211 fans to its last home game Wednesday, a 75-56 win over Chicago State.
FYI: This is Dayton’s last road game until January. They play Central Michigan, Iona, Southern California, Murray State and Winthrop at UD Arena in their next five games before playing one more non-conference game at Ole Miss on Jan. 4. … Through Thursday, all 13 teams in the A-10 were at or above .500.
