Bengals WR A.J. Green vs. Patriots CB Aqib Talib
Green enters today’s contest riding the least productive three-game stretch of his career, and waiting for him across the line of scrimmage is one of the top corners in the league.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Talib is tied for the NFL lead with four interceptions, and since 2009 he is tied for second with 19 picks and ranks third in the league with four returns for touchdowns.
“He’s done some really good things,” Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton said. “We’ve got to be at our best. We expect him to follow A.J., (but) we like A.J. on whoever is out there.”
If Talib can do a solid job on Green by himself, the Cincinnati offense could struggle just as it did last week when Cleveland’s Joe Haden single-covered Green and held him to 51 yards.
Green admitted he was frustrated last week, but he said he is looking forward to the challenge of breaking out of his mini slump (just 17 catches for 138 yards in his last three games) against one of the league’s top corners.
